All-American Boys Chorus Director Emeritus Leads
60 Voice Children's Choir of Excellence

Artistic Director Welly Yang announced the appointment of Mr. David Albulario, the decade-long music director of the All American Boys Chorus (California), to lead the sixty voice Children's Choir of Excellence in what plans to be the first year of an expanded year-round children's choir program.

"For Asian American children, growing up to be an actor or singer has not historically been a feasible possibility. The Concert of Excellence is a great way to introduce the children to positive role models and show them that no future should be outside of their grasp." Mr. Albulario maintains, "No matter what career they choose in their adult lives, exposing children to music and theater at a young age not only elevates their personal and emotional growth, but is also great fun. When else will they have the opportunity to perform on one of the world's great
stages, with Broadway stars?"

The children were selected after a month long audition process that saw hundreds of candidates from the New York Tri-State area. They will be singing Stephen Sondheim's Our Time from Merrily We Roll Along, exemplifying both the spirit and theme of this year's concert:

"We're the movers and we're the shapers
We're the names in tomorrow's papers
Up to us now to show em
It's our time, breathe it in
Worlds to change and worlds to win
Our turn, coming through
Me and you, pal, me and you!"

-Our Time, Stephen Sondheim
